Abstract

[A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts; Aug. 9, 1944.] [Class 135] In order to delay closing of an automatic cut-off valve 10 until a predetermined volume of liquid has passed, the valve spindle 19 is connected to a piston 17 which expels liquid from a cylinder 15 through a restricted orifice 16. The orifice may be adjustable by a needle valve or be formed in a removable plug 30 interchangeable with another plug having a different orifice. Resistance to closing ceases when apertures 28<1> pass out of the cylinder, the orifice 16 is preferably circular to make the device insensitive to variations in viscosity and rate of flow, and a spring 38 may be provided.
