Abstract
578,276. Transformers. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. June 7, 1943, No. 9135. Convention date, June 9, 1942. [Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group V] A transformer or other apparatus has a tubular portion 36 that is clamped to a core 20, 21 enabling it to be supported in a horizontal position from the R.H. end of the tube while a synthetic resinous covering 60 is cast round it. A cushioning layer 49 of sponge latex is preferably first moulded round the apparatus including the tube 36 or the latter may have a covering of cork. In the form shown, there are two cores 20, 21, with windings 22, 23, adapted to surround a primary conductor passing through a hole 59. The cores are clamped in position by means of a headed bolt 29, a bracket 27 and a nut 34, the bracket 27 having a tubular end which screws into the tube 36. The mould for receiving the latex maybe of aluminium with a highly polished inner surface which may be coated with a varnish such as an alkyd resin to prevent tearing of the latex coating when the mould is removed. After removal of the mould the latex covering is vulcanized. Specification 507,000 is referred to.
