Abstract
577,431. Telephone cabinets. BURGESS BATTERY CO. Jan. 26, 1944, No. 1496. Convention date, Feb. 10, 1943. [Classes 20 (i) and 20 (ii)] A communication booth has foraminous walls, particularly designed to cut out low frequency noises, providing a zone of communication within the booth. Each wall consists of a foraminous sheet 19, Fig. 2, of metal, wood, pressed fibrous material, or phenol-formaldehyde resin. A thick layer of sound absorbing material 20, such as porous mineral wool, vegetable fibre or animal hair, is positioned adjacent the interior surface of the wall 19. A foraminous inner facing sheet 21 may be placed adjacent the inner surface of the material 20. A tie 22, which may be of grid form, joins the sheets 19, 21. The holes 23 in the wall 19 may be arranged uniformly or in a pattern. Limiting values for the size and spacing of the holes are given. The booth, Fig. 1, is open at the front. The sides 11 and rear 10 have openings 14 formed between spaced integral feet 13. Lighting 17 may be provided. The invention may be applied to a totally enclosed booth having a door. Specification 488,970 is referred to.
