Abstract
577,257. Holders for lengths of cloth &c. SKERRETT, H. N. (Hellyar, E. G.). May 10, 1944. No. 8884. [Class 42 (ii)] In a holder for the shipment of lengths of velvet cloth &c. of the kind comprising a pair of end members having a plurality of hooks mounted thereon and spaced apart by a bar &c. the cloth being secured at its edges to the hooks so that its different layers are held in spaced relationship to prevent damage, the hooks are mounted in slots in the end members so that they may be fully protected therein. In the modification of Fig. 4, pins 10 crossing a slot 7 in an end member 5, engage in slots 11 in the hook plate 8. In the modification of Fig. 5, pins 12, crossing the slot 7, engage the hooks 9 of the plate 8 in the fully retracted position, the hooks 9 being prevented from passing the pins 12, by a pin 13 engaging the lower edge 14 of the plate. In a further modification, the hooks of a plate are prevented from passing the pins 12 by a staple which bridges the back of the slot 7. In a still further modification, the pin 13 is replaced by a headed nail driven lengthwise along the slot 7 below the edge 14 of the plate 8, such nail being removable when it is desired to replace the hook plate 8 by another.
