Abstract

575,906. Fuel injectors. LAGONDA, Ltd., (formerly WYNDHAM HEWITT, Ltd.), COBB, W. R., and GREEN, G. W. A. April 11, 1944, No. 6661. [Class 7 (iii)] A fuel injector of the kind having a differential needle valve 6 resiliently biassed to its seat 5, is provided with a sealing bush 15 of deformable oil resisting material such as synthetic rubber arranged to permit the periodical displacement of the valve from its seat under the pressure of the fuel supply. In some cases the sealing bush may be adhesively bonded to both the stem of the needle valve and the interior surface of the guide sleeve 7. It can also be arranged that the sealing bush performs the functions of the loading or biassing spring 13. The upper end of the bush is then closed, Fig. 4, also the guide sleeve is closed at its upper end and encases the closed upper end of the sealing bush.
