[Class 20 (ii)] Adjustable beams for supporting shuttering for casting concrete floors &c. comprise two or more members of hollow section, telescopically adjustable one within another the outer members having means for locking the beam parts in substantial alignment. The outer member 10, Fig. 1, may be of rectangular section formed from two sheet-metal channels welded together, the inner member 12 being formed of two sheet-metal sections welded at 13, 14, Fig. 2, to constitute two triangular sections with their apices juxtaposed. The members are provided with angle-sections 16 to engage supports 17 and may have additional angles 15 so that they may be used when supports 25 for wall shuttering are in position. The members are locked by screws 20 threaded through nuts 19 welded on the outer member and carrying plates 21 to engage the inner member. Separation of the parts may be prevented by a stud 26 screwed in the outer member and a web 27 welded to the inner member. According to a modification, the outer member may be formed of upper and lower sheet-metal channels 30, 32, Fig. 7, connected at intervals by bars 33, and the inner member may comprise tubular sections 35 of triangular form connected by tubular members 36 welded thereto. One or both ends of the beam may be provided with a cam or screw gear 50, 49, Fig. 8, for vertical adjustment of the beam relatively to the supporting angle 41, to facilitate removal of the shuttering from the beam.
