Abstract

574,215. Silencers. MORRIS, A. J., and LISTER & CO., Ltd., R. A. May 9, 1944, No. 8831. [Class 7 (ii)] A silencer having aligned inlet and outlet openings 43 and particularly for intake air comprises a casing formed by the outer rings 32 of sections 30A, 30B, each comprising outer and-inner ring portions 33, 32, and end covers 31A, 31B secured to the sections. Spokes 34 connect the inner and outer rings. The spaces between the spokes are filled with felt &c. held between perforated metal discs 40, of which one is secured in each section, two sections forming a unit which is spaced from its adjacent units by distance-pieces 37. The outer rings are tongued and grooved at 36, 35 to ensure alignment. The silencer may be made of plastic material and be oval instead of circular cross-section.
