563,567. Indicating devices. DAY, L. G., HIGH DUTY ALLOYS, Ltd., and FOSTER INSTRUMENT CO., Ltd. Jan. 14, 1943, No. 722. [Class 106 (iv)] A measuring instrument, such as an electric pyrometer, has a light-weight index member 4 which passes over a relatively fixed scale 2,- and associated optical means whereby a magnified image of the index member together with only the adjacent part of the scale may be cast on to a screen 9. A knob 10 is adjusted to position a gear sector 18 so that a light source 5 sends a beam through a lens system 6 past the index 4 and the adjacent part of the scale. Through the gears 11, 12, 15, 14 a mirror 7 is turned through half the angle of the sector 18, so as always to reflect, the beam of light through a'lens 8 to a plain mirror 19, a convex mirror 20, and so to a'screen 9 formed of two layers of the material known under the Registered Trade Mark of Celastoid, between two sheets of glass. The magnification may be produced alternatively by a compound projection lens of the telephoto type.
