[Classes 108 (i) and 108 (ii)] Relates to a trailer or other vehicle, for transporting bombs or other loads, of the kind including a supporting base, the ends of which are respectively connected to wheel or like axles 16 at the ends of the base by means including jacks arranged so that the base can be lowered or raised relatively to the axles by manipulation of the jacks. According to the invention, the base comprises a rigid panel 12 which, when lowered, may rest on the ground, the panel being secured to the underside of a central backbone 11 so that bombs &c. may be rolled on to the panel and supported on opposite sides of the backbone. As shown, the I-section backbone 11 extends beyond the corrugated sheet-metal panel 12, the end edges of which are reinforced by an angle-section arch 13 and a vertical sheet-metal strip 14. A pair of arms 20 fast with each axle 16 is journalled on a cross-shaft 21 supported by brackets 22 on the strip 14 and, if desired, by the extending portion of the backbone, and a rod 23 interconnecting the arms between their ends coacts with the movable element of a jack, the casing 25 of which is secured to the backbone, operation of the jack by a wheel 27 or tommy-bar 30 causing the base to rise or fall. Alternatively, the jack may be arranged to interact between the axle and the. adjacent end of the base, as shown in Figs. 4-6 of Specification 563,432. The supporting wheels 17 of the front axle 16 are mounted for steering by draw-bar mechanism adapted to be hinged at 19 to the axle.
