Abstract
563,207. Siphons; photographic washing tanks. PHOTOSTAT, Ltd., and TAYLOR, H. A. May 7, 1943, No. 7266. [Class 98 (ii)] [Also in Group XXIX] A siphon, more particularly for photographic washing tanks, is fitted with an overflow pipe, preferably coaxially disposed, the siphon and overflow action 'being capable of simultaneous and automatic operation so that if the supply of liquid to the tank exceeds the discharge through the siphon, the liquid on rising above the siphon escapes through the overflow pipe to an outlet common to the siphon and overflow pipe. Fig. 1 shows a washing tank 1 of stainless steel, with a supply pipe 3 feeding water through pipes 4 to vertical spray pipes 5, and with a discharge orifice 11, Fig. 2, leading into a semi-cylindrical pocket 7, the base support 8 of which has an aperture 12 in which is fitted a combined siphon and overflow pipe comprising a tube 13 extending into a drain pipe 14, a siphon bell 16 surrounding the upper end of tube 13 and having a cap 17 with internal ribs 18 engaging the top of said tube, and an overflow pipe 20 depending from an aperture in the cap through the tube 13 to the drain pipe 14. The device may be adjusted in height by adjustment of the supporting ring 15, and may be readily withdrawn from the aperture 12 when the tank is to be completely drained.
