562,792. Photo-electric apparatus for testing lamps. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. Jan. 11, 1943, No. 487. Convention date, Jan. 21, 1942. [Class 40 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXVI] Photoflash lamps are tested in a container 10 for the presence of air within the sealed bulb by producing a high-frequency glow discharge within the lamp bulb 19. One or more photoelectric cells 29 having substantial sensitivity to 'the near ultra-violet radiations may be disposed within the container 10 and a cover 30 is arranged to prevent access of light from the exterior. The cells 29 are connected to a galvanometer, the readings of which indicate the absence or presence of air in the lamp bulb. Specifications 548,297, 551,769, 555,621 and 560,737, [all in Group XXI], are referred to.
