Abstract
561,578. Fusible cut-outs. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and LANDERS, M. A. B. Jan. 12, 1943, No. 555. [Class 38 (i)] A fuse element made by coating an insulating support with conductive material such as colloidal graphite which may be covered with a metallic film as described in Specification 558,369 has the support formed as a tube of polygonal or ribbed cross-section, the conductive layer being applied to the angles or ridges. The support 1 which may be of steatite or other non - resinous insulating material has ribs 1a which are flattened or rounded and some or all coated with the conductive composition. The conducting strips are separated by the recessed areas 1c at the centre, but are connected together at the ends 1b to form a surface for receiving caps or wire coils forming the terminals. These end surfaces may be of circular cross-section. The bare portions of the insulator are protected with wax or whiting during the application of the conductive coating.
