[Class 79 (v)] [Also in Group XXXIV] The hydraulic connection between the brake, operating cylinder of a vehicle steering wheel and the master cylinder extends through the pivot of the wheel. As shown, the pivot f which connects the knuckle c, carrying the stub axle a, to the part e connected to the chassis is tubular and is provided with a pipe connection m. The passage in the pivot is connected to passages j, k, leading to the brake cylinder g by a passage through a member n slidable in the pivot and seating at i in a fluid-tight manner in the passage j. The member n is held to the seat i by a spring-q and by the fluid pressure acting upon a piston part of the member. In a modification, the cylinder g instead of being provided on the knuckle c as shown, is mounted on the brake. anchor plate and is connected by a pipe to a member that is screwed into the lower part of the knuckle.
