Abstract
560,333. Separating oil &c. from water. TAYLOR, G., and GRANT, d. de V. Oct. 8, 1942, No. 14143. [Classes 46 and 111] In a trap for separating oil, petrol or grease from water comprising a casing 1 fitted with a removable lid 2 and divided by a partition 5 into a separating chamber 3 and an outlet chamber 4, a foraminous cage or basket 9 containing small coke, clinker or like filtering material 10 is removably mounted on seat or frame 11 with its side walls spaced slightly from the opposed walls of the casing and an overflow plate 12 so that the liquid passes normally through the filtering material or over the plate 12 if the filter becomes choked. The frame 11 may consist of angle irons 11, lla or steel strips or be formed by cutting a hole in a steel plate. The plate 12 is slidable in guides 13 and rests on the frame. The partition 5 may extend to the lid and be provided with one or more holes near the top edge. An anti-wash plate 17, such as described in Specification .557,885, and a weighted flap valve 19 on the inlet 7 may be provided.
