Abstract

569,963. Flywheels. STANLEY, G. E. Dec. 14, 1943, No. 20911. [CLass 122 (i)] [Also in Group XXXII] In order to permit slight inclination of a flywheel relatively to its shaft, the flywheel is carried by a spider rigidly bolted at its hub 20 to the shaft and provided with arms 21, having material axial and lesser circumferential flexibility, slidingly connected at their ends 22 to the flywheel. The centre of the flywheel .has a spigoted or other connection 14 with the shaft which will permit relative inclination. A flexible clutch disc as described in Specification 556,908, [Group XXIV], may co-operate with one face of the flywheel. The flywheel also functions to damp out torsional and transverse vibrations of the crankshaft.
