Abstract

569,759. Radial cylinder pumps. VICKERS-ARMSTRONGS, Ltd., and NAYLOR, J. C. Sept. 14, 1943, No. 15077. [Class 102 (i)] In a radial cylinder pump with a preferably reversible variable-stroke eccentric, the latter is connected by a bell-crank lever 24 to a bar 23 which is slidable within the drive shaft 18 and which is connected to an external manually, mechanically, or automatically operated control lever 34. The inner ring 15 of the eccentric may be secured by pins 16 to a pair of segniental pads 17 the parallel faces of which engage a rectangular cross-section portion 18a of the shaft 18, with or without needle bearings. The portion 18a also carries the eccentricpositioning bar 19 which further engages the inner ring 15 by endwise-positioning dowels. The bell-crank lever 24 has ball heads 26, 27 in engagement with sockets on the slider bar 23 and the positioning bar 19, respectively. The outer end of the slider bar rotates in a collar 31 screwed to a push-pull rod 32 the outer end of which has a ball-and-socket connection 33 with the control lever 34. The pump may include an eccentric-operated selfsealing distributing valve 21 of the kind described in Specification 503,148. Specification 565,805 also is referred to.
