569,331. Educational appliances. MORRIS, R. Feb. 18, 1944, No. 3048. [Class 146 (ii)] A word-building appliance comprises a number of adjustable slides or rotary members f printed with letters visible through a slot h in a box g, so that words made by adjusting the slides are visible through the slot h. The slides close contacts for energizing electric circuits to lamps arranged behind pictures a on translucent screens in separate compartments of a box b, and the circuits are arranged so that a picture is illuminated which corresponds to the built-up word. In some cases, two words can be built up by manipulation of one slide only, and Fig. 7 shows diagrammatically how the circuits are arranged to illuminate two lamps e, e<1> behind pictures of a cat and rat respectively when one slide f is adjusted to expose the letters C, or R, the other two slides being adjusted to expose the letters A, T.
