Abstract

568,875. Diamond &c. tools. JEARUM, F. C. Dec. 13, 1943, No. 20847. [Class 124] A diamond or like tool comprises a tip 18 with two adjacent exposed edges 27, 28 mounted at a corner of the shank 1 by means of a recess 2 with an inclined bed 4, an abutment member 8 with a correspondingly inclined underface 10 and with rear and side abutment walls 16, 17, and a clamping member 19. Machining of the walls 16, 17 is facilitated by a vertical bore 15. Wear of the tip may be taken up by removal of the material of the faces 7, 33, or by the introduction and removal of shims against and from the wall 17 and face 33, respectively. The tip 18 has radiussed corners at the intersection of the cutting edges 27, 28 and at the outer extremities 30 thereof.
