Abstract
Monoazo dyes, specially suitable for chrome-printing fibres and fabrics of natural or regenerated cellulose in brown shades, are obtained by coupling diazotised 1-amino-4-hydroxybenzene-3-carboxylic acid or a nuclear-substituted derivative thereof with 2 : 4-naphtholsulphonic acid. Examples relate to the preparation of the dyes having as diazo components: (1) p-aminosalicylic acid, (2) p-amino-o-cresotinic acid, (3) p-amino-m-cresotinic acid, (4) 6-acetylamino-4-aminosalicylic acid, (5) 4-aminosalicylic-6-sulphonic acid, (6) 6-chloro-4-aminosalicylic acid. 6 - Acetylamino - 4 - aminosalicylic acid is obtained by reducing the nitro group in the product of acetylation of 4-nitro-6-aminosalicylic acid. 4-Aminosalicylic-6-sulphonic acid is obtained by sulphonating 4-aminosalicylic acid.
