Abstract
566,757. Revolver loaders. CAMPBELL, SIR M. Jan. 25, 1943, No. 1269. [Class 9 (i)] A device for charging the chambers of revolver cylinders comprises a spring-pressed platform 52 having seats provided thereon, between studs 54, for the cartridges 8. The platform has limited rotatability around a central post 30, the extent of which is controlled by a stud 58, below the platform, moving in a slot 34 in a fixed diaphragm 24. When stud 58 is at either end of the slot, cartridges may be placed on the seats, and the platform is then pressed slightly inwards against the spring 56 and then rotated to midposition in which the cartridge rims 9 are located under fixed lugs 12 on the casing 20 of the device and lugs 48 on a central sleeve 44 on the diaphragm 24. The pressure is then released and the spring 56 causes the cartridges to be gripped between the platform and the lugs. To charge a revolver cylinder, the gripped cartridges are pushed into the cylinder chambers until the studs 54 engage the end of the cylinder and press the platform rearwards. The device is then rotated to move the lugs 12, 48 away from the cartridge rims and permit its removal. The post 30 is carried by a spring-pressed disc 32 which has also a pin 38 projecting therefrom and a hole 59 which is entered by the stud 58 when the platform is in the mid-position. Before the platform can be rotated, the post 30 must be pressed inwards to move the pin 38 out of a locking hole 36 in the diaphragm, and the hole 59 away from the stud 58. A modified construction is described in which the platform is locked by a cross-pin on a spring-pressed axial plunger.
