Abstract
565,995. Pipe joints. GILBERT., T. C. June 2, 1943, No. 8858. [Class 99 (i)) [Also in Group XXXVI] Conduits for electric cables are composed of flexible non-metallic insulating material and are provided with friction - fit joints and connections. The conduits may be made from rubber scrap or reclaimed rubber combined with filling and vulcanizing materials or from plastic material such as polyvinyl chloride, whilst sharp-angled curved connecting pieces may be made from moulded thermo-setting artificial resin. The conductors 11, Fig. 2, are housed in a conduit 10 having a push fit with one end 13 of a spout 12 embedded in wall plaster 21 and provided With an open end 14 of larger diameter. The opening 16; Fig. 4; may be lateral and tHe conduit joined direct to the outlet box or to a flexible or metallic sleeve 18 fitting into the box. For heavier work, the main conduit 22, Fig. 8, has branch conduits 23, 24 with moulded cover-plates 25 resting on or secured to the main conduit, a housing 32 secured to the floor having knock-out pieces 33. A junction box 26, Fig. 10, circular or rectangular, may have similar knock-out pieces 29 in the sides, base and cover, whilst moulded slots 30 may be provided to receive straight or angular partitions 31.
