Abstract

565,965. Bending-tongs. BOOTH, J. H. June 8, 1943, No. 9165. [Class 61 (ii)] [Also in Group XXV] The ends of screws are expanded into recesses in nuts to provide a lock. As applied to fixing a glass plate 20, Fig. 2, to a rectangular or other tube 21, the screw 23 fits flush into a cover strip 24 and the end projects into a conical recess 30 in a sleeve nut 25 that engages the inner surface of the tube and acts as a distance-piece. A slot 31 in the head of the sleeve admits the jaws, of a pincer-like tool, that taper at 35 to enter a slot 29 cut in the end of the screw and deform it laterally to produce a locking-enlargement 28. The nut may have a second slot 36 to admit jaws 37 to reclose the slot 29 when it is required to remove the nut.
