Abstract

564,575. Pipe joints. WRIGHT, H. CLAYTON-. Sept. 2,1942, No. 12355. [Class 99 (i)] A rubber sealing ring 5 mounted on the end of a flared or'flanged pipe 3 is initially of greater diameter than the bore of the socket 1 and is forced therein, the ring being left protruding from the socket and a space being left between the pipe flange and the base 7 of the socket. A flanged nut. 2 is then screwed up to compress the end of the ring. The flange 4 may be a separate washer held between the ring and a shoulder on the pipe. A dished spring washer may be inserted between the flange 4 and socket base 7. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 472,773.
