Abstract
564,546. Cathode-ray tubes. LIEBMANN, G., and CATHODEON, Ltd. Nov. 2, 1942, No. 15392. [Class 39 (i)] In a cathode-ray tube, a cathode 11 is secured in an aperture 14 in an insulating support 13 so that the electron emissive surface of the cathode is fixed with respect to the support and a narrow metal strip 19 is fixed to the support having a hole in line with the cathode surface, a modulating electrode 17 being conductively secured to strip 19 to close this hole and having a further hole in its centre in line with the cathode surface. An anode 32 with a central hole 31 is mounted above by claws 34 thereon engaging support 13. The modulating electrode 17 may be concave on the side facing away from its supporting strip and an insulating spacer may be provided between anode 32 and electrode 17. The cathode assembly may be mounted on an insulating disc 46 fitting into the tube 47. A further anode 51 is mounted in a similar disc 56 and spaced by stiff wires 50 through one of which the electrical connections to this anode is made. A further anode 59 is formed by a conductive coating on tube 47. In a modified construction, anode 32 may be seated on bosses on support 13. Specification 528,979 is referred to.
