Abstract

551,236. Airscrews. HILLS & SONS, Ltd., F., RICHMOND, P. H., LANG, E. W., S. and TAYLOR, J. L. Dec. 25, 1941, No. 16668. [Class 114] In an airscrew blade in which the root is formed with a screw end portion k, Fig. 1 (Prov.), tapering towards the root and for screwing into a sleeve or adaptor a, there is provided between said screwed tapered portion k and the blade proper a reversely tapered portion l which co-operates with a similarly tapered securing means e, f carried by the sleeve or adaptor. The wedge-ring e,f has one or more small gaps j and is formed with a flange h with notches to receive a locking spanner. In the form shown in Fig. 1 (Comp.) the wedge-ring has a smooth cylindrical or conical external surface and is held in position by a notched clamping ring n screwed onto the outside of the sleeve.
