Abstract

559,946. Alternating current motors. LANDIS & GYR SOC. ANON. June 26, 1942, No. 8793. Convention date, July 14, 1941. [Class 35] [Also in Group XXXIV] To reduce noise in a small, preferably synchronous electric motor, the rotor shaft 6 works in a non-circular bearing 10 of greater cross-section than the shaft. The shaft touches the bearing in two points or lines which it is free to leave in a vertical direction. The bearing may be triangular, Fig. 2, diamond-shaped, Fig. 3, or polygonal, the clearance from the remaining sides of the bearing representing the normal allowance of play. The angle of the two bearing surfaces is not less than 60 degrees, preferably 90 degrees. Preferably, the apex is vertically below the axis of the shaft.
