Abstract

558,404. Life-saving garments. CROSSLAND, HUGHES & CO., Ltd., and MACKENZIE, E. D. Nov. 5, 1942, No. 15623. [Class 141] A life-saving waistcoat, particularly of the kind described in Specification 554,052, is provided with means engageable by a boat hook and comprising a length of rope formed into a loop 1 and passing through guide tapes 2, 7, the free ends 8 being adapted to be tied around the wist of the wearer. The rope is knotted adjacent the tapes 7 as shown, or tied to them to prevent dislodging the loop 1, which is preferably buoyant, and which normally is tucked inside the back of the waistcoat and held by a loop 6. In another, construction, where the waistcoat comprises two side portions connected to a back portion, the rope is threaded through open hems in the lower portion of the armholes.
