[Class 112] A needle-bar 21 reciprocates in a frame 24 mounted on a compound pivot 27 one axis of which is in line with the top shaft 14. It is vibrated transversely for making zig-zag stitches by means of a pitman 39 and an eccentric on a cross-shaft 42. It is vibrated in the line of feed, for feeding in co-operation with a feed-foot and a feeddog, by reason of the sliding engagement of the part 37<SP>1</SP> between spaced guides 65 on a frame 46 swingingly mounted on the top shaft 14. The frame 46 carries the looptaker which is mounted on a cross-shaft and is driven by a shaft 83 also mounted in the frame 46 and connected by a belt 87 with the top shaft. The frame 46 is oscillated by a pitman 58 and lever 59 on the feed shaft 60 actuated from a variable feed-advance eccentric 64. The feed-dog has no up-anddown movement and co-operates with the feed-foot on a feed-bar mounted in the frame 24 and coupled with a presser-bar so that the two bars are lifted alternately. The cross-shaft 42 giving the lateral vibration to the needlebar is mounted in the frame 46. The needle-bar driving pin 19 is pivotally connected to the needlebar and rides in a block 71 which is embraced by the pitman 18. The block 71 reciprocates in guides 70 in a part 68 carried by the frame 46.
