Abstract

556,186. Felt. ANGLO FELT INDUSTRIES, Ltd., and NEUHAUS, H. May 7, 1942, No. 6131. [Class 42 (ii)] In a felted fabric in which a fleece or loop of felted fibres is needled to a resinous or other base, the surface of the base fabric, is treated with an adhesive prior to the application of the fleece so that during the needling, which takes place while the adhesive is tacky, some of the adhesive is drawn through the base with the fibres; the adhesive may be applied to the base immediately before the application of the fleece or a thermo-adhesive substance may be applied to the base and allowed to dry and be brought to the adhesive state immediately before the needling. A fleece may be applied to one or both sides of the base and further adhesive may be applied to an already-secured fleece and a further fleece applied and needled thereto before the further adhesive sets; the needling of the second fleece need not extend through to the other side of the fabric.
