540,700. Photographic enlarging apparatus. SHEAD, H. C., MOUSLEY, C. R., and MOUSLEY, N. July 18, 1940, No. 11834. [Class 98 (i)] [Also in Group XV] Means for holding the printing paper or the like on the easel or base of a photographic enlarger comprise a magnetic or magnetizable base and bars or like members of magnetizable or magnetic material, or incorporating parts of such material, the paper being placed between the bars and base, which are mutually attracted. As shown, the base d is made of magnetizable material such as steel or iron, or is covered with a plate of such material, for example a thin plate of enamelled steel, and the holding members t are formed by rigid brass strips in each of which are mounted one or more horse-shoe magnets g having their pole faces flush with the underside of the strips. Alternatively, the strips f may be magnetic and they may be formed as two mutually-perpendicular limbs, which may be graduated. In other forms, the base is permanently magnetized or is provided with electromagnets.
