Abstract

[Class 44] [Also in Groups XXXVII and XXII] A clamp for a square section shaft such as secures an operating arm in a circuitbreaker or a contactor, comprises two clamp elements secured in the direction of a diagonal, each having two pads engaging adjacent surfaces of the shaft, the pads being separate from one another at the adjacent corner of the shaft, to avoid injury to any insulation. In the example, a clamp element is bent, from sheet metal pierced and cut as shown in Fig. 3, into the shape shown in Fig. 2 the pads. 6 being bent to rest on the edges of the side members 9, the holes 13 and 10 giving the necessary clearance. In one modification more than one square shaft is gripped and in another two square shafts, at right angles are gripped the sheet being appropriately cut. In another modification one of the side members 9 forms a circular cam, the other parts being bent out from the flat surface of the circle.
