Abstract
546,059. Concentrating ores. AMERICAN CYNAMIDE CO. Feb. 17, 1941, No. 2150. Convention date, March 20, 1940. [Class 82 (ii)] Siliceous gangue is separated from slimy ores, such as slimy phosphate ores, by subjecting a substantially completely deslimed pulp of the ore, i.e. one containing less than 1 per cent. of the slimes and preferabley not more than 0.5 per per cent., to froth flotation in the presence of a cation active flotation collector for the siliceous matter. The collector may be an aliphatic amine such as lauryl amine hydrochloride or a quaternary ammonium compound such as cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide. Other examples of suitable collectors are set out in U.S.A. Specifications 2,132,902 and 2,168,849.
