Abstract
544,939. Sanitary pails; refuse bins. AUSTRAL SANITARY PRODUCTS, Ltd., and SMITH, L. V. A. Nov. 1, 1940, No. 16007. [Class 26] In a sanitary pail 4 or like receptacle for foreign matter, e.g. bandage or swabs, a movable receiving member 8 for the foreign matter is in the form of a drum or sector etc.; is mounted on a shaft 5 carried by bearings 6, 7 secured or welded to the pail. The drum 8 is provided with webs 9 by which it is attached to the shaft 5 and from one of which extends an actuating lever 10 projecting through a slot 11 in the pail and by which the drum 8 is immersed in the liquid in the pail. The pait is provided with a cover 13 having a central opening 14 covered by a detachable lid 15. In a modification, the drum 8 is carried by a shaft mounted on two arms secured to the cover so that when the latter is removed the whole of the mechanism in the pail is also removed.
