Abstract

533,856. Ornamenting bricks. YORKSHIRE BRICK CO., Ltd., and PHILLIPPS, A. G. Nov. 6, 1939, No. 29419. [Class 87 (ii)] An irregular pattern, e.g. giving a "rustic" finish, is imparted to bricks prior to burning, and preferably prior to drying, by means of spikes &c. loosely mounted in a rapidly-rotating cylinder. As shown, headed spikes 7 are loosely supported in perforations in a hollow cylinder 1 carried by a shaft 4 adapted to be rotated through a coupling 6. The cylinder 1 is split and is held between a fixed flange 2 and a loose flange 3 secured by a nut 5.
