Abstract

533,102. Boots &c. HOFF, C. Oct. 7, 1939, Nos. 27432 and 27433. Convention dates, Oct. 22. 1938 and April 4, 1939. [Class 17 (iii)] An interchangeable spike for a running shoe is flanged at 6 and its threaded portion 4 is screwed into a square-shaped washer 3 of the same thickness as the insole 1. A disc 7 of copper &c. is preferably placed beneath the flange 6, and beneath all the discs of a number of spikes may be located a thin plate 8 of spring steel. The washer 3 may be provided with a rib 9 of wedge-shaped section to engage the sole 2, while the stem of the spike may have one or more plane surfaces 10.
