538,504. Work feeding and gauging mechanism. GOLDING, W. F., and NUELL, A. P. May 15, 1940, No. 8698. [Classes 31 (i) and 31 (ii)] Work-feeding and gauging mechanism for presses, punching and cutting machines comprises a gripper for one edge of the pile which can be moved along a guide bar having pinions thereon engaging racks at the side of the machine, means being provided for holding the bar in a series of adjustable positions while the gripper is moved along the bar against a series of adjustable stops. The gripper comprises upper and lower jaws 1, 2, the former being manipulated by a handle 10. The jaws are carried by a member 4 sliding along the guide bar 5 the adjustment being effected by a pivoted handle 16 engaging adjustable stops 20 ; a pivoted stop member 21 is provided on the handle 16 and is fitted with an adjustable screw. The guide bar is fitted with pinions 26, 27 engaging fixed racks 28, 29 and with handles 30, 31 engaging adjustable stops 35.
