Abstract
536,737. Non-conducting coverings. VERSIL, Ltd., and BINNS, C. E. Dec. 16, 1939, Nos. 32358/39 and 13608/40. [Class 64 (ii)] Surfaces to receive lagging, such as pipes, tanks, boilers and the like are provided with attached lugs 4 which project through the insulation 3 and are perforated or slotted as at 6, 9, 10 to receive rigid rods 7 of wood or metal which retain the insulation. Netting 8 may be applied to the lagging before the rods 7 are inserted, and an outer covering of cementitions or plastic material, or sheet-metal, may be added. The lagging may be in the form of blankets, sheets, or mattresses. The position of the rods 7 may be adjusted by plugs 11. The lugs 4 may be replaced by cleats, bolts, rivets, brackets, or ribs, with holes or slots, or the rods may be secured by wires or clips. The rods may be tied together transversely by other rods or wires. In Fig. 9 the projecting members may comprise studs 14 carrying a small block 15 perforated or slotted to receive the rod 7. The outer cover 16 may be secured by the same stud, with nut and washer 17, 18. The joints between the cover sheets may be in line with a row of studs.
