Abstract
536,707. Supply meters. MEASUREMENT, Ltd., and CLIFFORD, C. F. March 13, 1940, No. 4717. [Class 37] [Also in Group XXXV] The brake magnet system comprises a permanent magnet in the form of two pole pieces a, b interconnected by a bridge piece c, Fig. 6, the magnet being secured at a midposition to a member f constituting the return path for the magnetic flux and havng an end opposite each pole face so that two parallel magnetic circuits are formed in the member f. The magnet is secured by two screws h passing through a plate i in the gap over the bridging piece c, the screws being located in gaps e, e<1>, at the opposite sides of the bridging piece. Adjustment of the braking flux is effected by nuts k and locknuts m of magnetic material carried on screws j. These screws may alternatively be vertical, in which case they form part of the magnetic shunts. The rotor spindle n may be carried in bearings o capable of axial movement to permit withdrawal of the rotor without disturbing the magnet assembly.
