535,327. Rubber latex. UNITED STATES RUBBER CO. Nov. 28, 1939, No. 31016. Convention date, Feb. 16. Drawing to Specification. [Class 70] Rubber latex is purified by separating it into cream and serum portions by chemical creaming or mechanical centrifuging in such a manner that at least 50 per cent. of the total solids are separated in one or more serum portions and washing the rubber particles in the cream portion so that not more than 2 per cent. of the original serum of the latex remains in the final cream. The latex contains not more than 0.05 per cent. nitrogen based on the solids in the latex. The original latex or any of the separated creams may be diluted to any desired extent before creaming in order to reduce the number of creaming operations.
