Abstract
535,199. Coating metals. BOSCH GES., R. Feb. 28, 1940, No. 3693. Convention date, March 18, 1939. [Class 82 (ii)] Aluminium and its alloys are given a non- metallic corrosion-preventing coating by dipping in a heated alkaline chromate solution, and. after washing, the surface is brightened by treatment with a 5 per cent. solution of chromic acid heated to 60‹C. The period of the latter treatment is one-half to one minute. The resulting matt surface may be glazed by oiling or greasing. and will retain its glaze when rubbed dry.
