Abstract

535,108. Practice ammunition. HOBSON, P. Nov. 10, 1939, No. 29785. [Class 9 (i)] Ammunition for indoor practice comprises a cartridge case 1 provided with the usual primer and powder 2, a dished washer 4 of asbestos or similar heat insulating material between the powder and bullet, and a bullet 3 of soft material such as wax, sufficiently hard to break a glass or similar frangible target but not so hard as to injure walls and ceilings or to pass through loosely hung hessian. The edges of the washer may be hardened by compression and enter the rifling grooves during its passage through the barrel, thus clearing the bore of wax.
