Abstract

529,985. Reproducing photographic negatives electro-optically. KOLSTER-BRANDES, Ltd., and SMYTHE, C. N. May 30, 1939, No. 15922. [Class 40 (iii)] A negative C is scanned by light from a cathode-ray tube A, the light passing through it falling on a large photo-electric cell D. The output is amplified at G and applied to the .cathode-ray tube E in such a manner that a positive appears on its screen. The tubes A, E are supplied from a common time-base circuit F. The scanning potentials of either or both tubes may be variable to control the degree of enlargement. The contrast is controlled by varying the amplifier gain, and the illumination by varying the bias on the tube E. In a modification, an iconoscope or other type of electron camera may be substituted for the tube A and the cell D.
