[Class 141] A bathing suit of the kind provided at the upper edge with a plurality of pleats for narrowing the suit above the wearer's bust, and with cross flaps is characterized by a seam at the upper part of the suit below the wearer's breasts. -In the form shown, the suit comprises a seam 12, and flaps 14, 14<SP>1</SP> which cross at the front of the suit, and are provided with extensions 4 which are tied together at the front of the wearer's waist. Pleats 13 are arranged between the seam 12 and the upper edge of the suit. In a modification, the ends of the flaps are secured to the suit by detachable fasteners. In another modification, the flaps are crossed at the back leaving parts of the front and sides of the body uncovered, the flaps being provided with bands which are detachably secured to the front of the waist of the garment. In a further modification, the flaps cross at the front, and the associated bands are tied together at the back of the waist. In a still further modification, the flaps cross at the back, and the associated bands are tied together at the front of the waist.
