526,280. Knitting. JENNINGS & SONS., Ltd., T., and JENNINGS, T. March 11, 1939, No. 7919. [Class 74 (ii)] Stocking knees or other areas are fashioned by advancing and retarding the time at which the sinker or web-holders come into operation, and so providing areas with slack sinker loops. There may be a pivoted supplementary cam f which can be pushed inwards by a cam h on a thrust bar g, to engage special sinkers e provided with long butts e' and bring them in action in advance of other sinkers. In a modification the sinker cam ring is oscillated at each revolution of the needle cylinder for a fixed or variable period.
