Abstract

526,019. Air-raid shelters. SCHOSZBERGER, H. March 6, 1939, No. 7303. [Class 20 (i)] An air-raid shelter is constructed from cylindrically-curved plates e of corrugated sheetmetal, the longitudinally-lapped edges being riveted &c. together, and the ends e' of the sections staggered as shown in Fig. 2. Preferably, packing-strips of bitumen-impregnated jute are used in the lap-joints; all abutments are covered with plastic tightening means; and, a double coating of bitumen is applied over the complete tube. Fig. 1, shows a subterranean shelter built-up as above with an air-lock entrance-chamber g, air-inlet o with a filtrationdevice n, and an emergency-exit p.
