[Class 69 (i)] A collapsable self-supporting structure for supporting a flexible tank having a substantially rectangular base and trapezoidal sides which overhang the base when the structure is erected, and support the sides of a tank of the same shape, comprises a comparatively rigid framework, and flat, flexible metallic strips which offer great resistance to extension and are connected to the framework to support the tank. A base 3, built of channel iron and cross bars 19, has end frames 4 pivoted thereto so as to fold within the depth of the base without overlapping, and side frames 4 pivoted at 14, 15, to fold flat one on the other. The sides and, if desired, the ends have horizontal elastic steel strips 5 preferably spaced apart and adapted to yield under the pressure of the liquid ; the strips 5 are combined with, or embedded in, preferably wider strips of balata, fabric, leather or other soft material, and additional strips 19a may be arranged at right angles thereto. The side and end frames are each formed of an endless length of tubing braced by horizontal and vertical tubes &c. ; inclined braces may also be used. As shown, the side frames have tubes 7 or 7a at right angles to their lower sides and on which clips 10, secured to the ends of strips 5, are pivoted, the clips being supported by weld spots or end braces 9. When raised, the sides and ends are connected by bolts 16, or by apertured lugs fitting over pins and held by linch pins. The end frames, and other parts where strips 5 are not provided, may be filled in with wire mesh. Further, the end frames may fold on to one side of the base, and the side frames on to the other side.
