Abstract

519,821. Two-part couplings. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and COATES, H. J. Sept. 26, 1938, No. 27992. [Class 38 (i)] A metal joint-box 1 interconnecting the condenser-type busbars 2, 3, contains a body 11 of non-inflamable liquid such as a halogenated aryl hydrocarbon, for example, " Araclor," which liquid is separated by an insulating pot 7 from a body of oil or other liquid 10 which does not deteriorate when arcing takes place due to the separation of a condenser-type plug contact 6 on a withdrawable potential transformer or circuitbreaker (not shown), from a fixed socket contact 4 which is connected at 8 to the busbarjoint. When 6 is withdrawn, a shutter 13 on the box 1 automatically covers the insulator-orifice 12.
