Abstract
518,396. Valves. JACKSON, L. MELLERSH-. (Aktiebolaget Imo-Industri.). Sept. 23. 1938, No. 27782. [Class 135] A valve device in which the pressure acting on the face of the valve member is partly balanced by the admission of inlet pressure to a chamber behind the valve member has the passages for this presure fluid arranged centrally and near the edge of the valve member so that an aspirating effect is produced when the valve is open so reducing the pressure in the balancing chamber to correspond more or less with the fall of total pressure acting on the face of the valve consequent on the valve opening. The valve member comprises a hollow cylindrical member 8 with guide wings 14 slidably mounted in a partition 7 separating the inlet 2 from the outlet 4, The valve member is adjustably loaded by a spring 16 to hold the valve guide wings normally in engagement with a stop 15. This spring is arranged between the valve member and an abutment 10 which fits inside the valve member to provide a balancing chamber 17 and is adjusted by a screwed spindle 12 and handwheel 13. The balancing chamber is connected to the inlet side of the valve by a central passage 18 and passages 19 near the edge of the valve member. Specifications 420,051 and 461,362 are referred to.
