Abstract

518,176. Automatic control systems. MEECH ELECTRIC DRIVES, Ltd., and VAUGHAN, C. H. Aug. 16, 1938, No. 24156. [Class 38 (iv)] Load distribution.-The load on motors 1, 2 is maintained equal, or in desired ratio, by rectifying a sample of the supply current to each and passing the difference of these currents through the operating windings 20, 21 of polarised relays, premagnetised from a circuit 24. The relay armature, upon deviation of load closes either contacts 9 or 13 to energise contactors 3a, 3b which respectively operate means to raise or lower the speed of the motor 2 and so adjust its load. An anti-heating intermittent contact device 11 may be included in the circuit of the contactors. The speed variation may be effected by electromechanical means adjusting the brushes of an A.C. motor or varying the field of a D.C. motor. For D.C. motors the' relays are in circuit with potentiometers.
