Abstract

518,155. Hair combs; hair-curling appliances. COAKLEY, A. A. Nov. ,3, 1938, No. 31804. [Class 131] In a hair comb adapted to be .used.in forming curls means are provided for applying a hair pin to the curl when formed. The casing 1 contains a comb 4 adapted to move and engage by means of a projection 5 between either the top portion 6 of the casing 1 and the bridge piece 2 or between the bridge pieces 2 and 3. The comb is locked in either position by means of a pin 8 traversing a U-shaped groove 7 in the comb and is urged outwards by a spring blade 9. The hair pin 12 is carried in grooves 11 in the casing 1 so that on removal of the device after curling the hair and withdrawing the comb into'the casing, the pin is left gripping the curl. Fig. 5 shows a modified construction for holding the pin.
